WU Theses

You can find theses on level -2 . However, we do not collect bachelor theses.

In the WU catalog you have the option to search for theses written at WU. To do this, select the sub-catalog WU Theses from the drop-down menu located next to the search field.

You can also use the advanced search options to filter your results for WU Theses (see examples below). You can search for the names of the reviewers, supervisors, departments, and institutes.

Digital WU Theses

All master’s and doctoral theses submitted digitally (starting with March 2025) are also directly available via the Digital Collections platform.

Here you can filter by author or reviewer of the thesis, as well as by field of study and subject keywords.

Full texts can be accessed within the WU network.

You can also narrow down your results in the WU Catalog to the digitally available theses with the filter Online Resource. The full texts on the Digital Collections can be accessed directly via the link Online access available.

Examples

A combination of author and type of thesis

Look for WU theses with an author whose last name is Schuster and which are categorized as master theses.

The truncation helps you to find all master theses in the WU Catalog, despite different spellings. For dissertations and diploma theses use Diss* and Dipl* instead.

A combination of supervisor and thematic search term

Search for WU theses that were supervised by a person with the last name Franke and which contain the term innovation in their bibliographic information (may include title, abstract, subject, etc.).

Advanced Search of the WU catalog. The search query is: Search filter “Theses” contains “Franke” and search filter “Any field” contains “innovation”

Search for theses written at a specific institute, field of study, or supervisor

You can delve into theses from a particular field of study to find inspiration for your own work.

For theses completed before 2015, enter the name of the institute where they were completed in the search bar. Starting from 2016, searching by the field of study will take you to what you need.

If you’re looking for theses evaluated by a particular person, just search using their name.
