On the WU campus, there are two library locations that you can access with a valid student ID or a library card (if you aren’t a WU student). The larger location is the Central Library (building LC). Additionally, there is the Library for Law (D3).
Central Library
The Central Library is located in the Library and Learning Center (Building LC) on the WU campus (Welthandelsplatz). It consists of seven levels, and offers literature from different fields of study, as well as many workspaces and collaborative project rooms, the News lounge, the Finance Area and much more.
All levels are accessible via stairs, but also barrier-free with the lifts. You can enter the Central Library by taking the main entrance of the LC building.
Level 0
This is where the entrance to the LC building is located.
Level 1
On this level you will find the entrance to the Central Library with the front desk and the library information desk. The holding shelves where you can pick up reserved books are located here as well.
Level 2
Level 2 is home to the Finance Area, the entrance to the Language Resource Center, workspaces and collaborative project rooms.
Level 3
You can find the literature needed for your courses in the textbook collection (exception: law textbooks are located in the Library for Law!). Level 3 also offers workspaces and collaborative project rooms.
Level 4
Level 4 offers the News lounge with current newspapers and magazines, the search_bar, the chill-out area with a view of the Prater, as well as many PC workstations, collaborative project rooms, and the assistive technology room.
Level 5
This level is home to current literature (published in 2004 or later) that is sorted by topic. You can also find the POP Collection here, as well as multiple study areas, including a quiet study area in which you can’t use laptops.
Level 6
This level also offers current literature (published in 2004 or later) sorted by topic. Apart from that, you can find the Rothschild and Steindl Collections here, as well as multiple study areas, including a quiet study area in which you can’t use laptops.
Level -2
Level -2 in the basement is organized into an area for books and an area for journals. In the area for books you will find older literature (published before 2004), WU theses and reference works. The area for journals offers bound volumes of journals, newspapers and magazines.
Library for Law (D3)
The Library for Law offers books and journals from all fields of law and legal studies. It is also home to the legal textbook collection.
