Ask if (and how!) you can use them and how you should cite AI-generated content in your paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transparency is key when <a href=\"https:\/\/library.wu.ac.at\/bib\/fit4research\/index.php\/en\/fit4research-english\/wu-catalog-google-scholar-and-more\/ai-tools\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/library.wu.ac.at\/bib\/fit4research\/index.php\/en\/fit4research-english\/wu-catalog-google-scholar-and-more\/ai-tools\/\">using AI tools in your studies<\/a>. This means you need to clearly document in your papers which sections you used AI tools for and how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can best document the use of AI tools and AI-generated content in your work by using a combination of these methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Describe <\/strong>in the relevant section of your work which AI tools you used and what you used them for (e.g., in the literature review or methodology section).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>List the AI tools in a <strong>list of aids used<\/strong>. In this list, you disclose <em>all <\/em>tools &#8211; not just AI-based ones &#8211; that you used while working on your paper. For each tool, provide its name, explain how you used it, and specify which parts of your paper it was used for. Below, we share the recommendations of the APA, Chicago, and MLA citation styles. However, there are instances when only citing the AI tool by itself is enough. For instance, when citing a chat would be unhelpful or unethical, or if you only refer to the existence of an AI tool in general.
